Is Rocky Horror A Halloween Movie?

During the Halloween season there are always a few movies we watch every year and this year we decided to introduce our 15 year old to some of the classics. Just a heads up it did not go as well as I had hoped.

Some movies you need to be a certain age to really appreciate and my all time favorite movie is none other than the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show. I watch usually a few times a year but at least once around Halloween. So we decided to have our teenager come join us for the fun. Man did he absolutely not like watching it.

Teens Don't Seem To Love Rocky Horror

If you have seen Rocky Horror you know that it is really for a particular audience and part of what makes it so great is the audience participation that goes along with the film. We wanted him to watch the film on its own to truly appreciate the film at its base before adding in the extra fun. I watched the movie for the first time at 13 and absolutely fell in love with it watching it all the time. I figured for a teen boy waiting a few years was best due to some of the content in the film but I figured we had waited long enough.

Maybe Next Time...

By the end of the movie he could not wait to leave and go to his room. Didn't even get to the credits. He paused and saw there was 3 minutes left so he dipped out. We told him the next time we watched we would add in the audience commentary and hopefully he can appreciate the movie a bit more after watching that. We will see...

Maybe next year when the production is in Great Falls on Halloween we will take him along for his first show!
