Where Did Cascade Of Talent Go?

When I was in high school I was lucky enough to be a part of Cascade of Talent. If you haven't heard of it it was a lovely variety show for middle and high school students in Cascade County.

The show was held in a few locations over the years including West Elementary, The Mansfield, Great Falls High School Auditorium and others.

The show was modeled after a similar talent show in Helena called "A Night To Shine" which is still going strong and just celebrated their 31st show.

My family had a big part in making Cascade of Talent happen but there were community volunteers and organizations that had a huge impact on putting the show on for a total of 13 years until it ended in 2019 because there was not enough support to keep it going.

The Impact On Montana Schools Was Huge

Students also volunteered and classes worked together to create videos, websites and programs for the show.

Not only did I get a chance to participate singing and dancing, I also helped volunteer and was a judge for the show a few years before they shut down.

Why Do We Need A New Variety Show In Great Falls?

Kids have many avenues to share their talent nowadays with dance recitals, school concerts and even online venues like Youtube and Tik Tok but there were always kids who didn't have any opportunity to showcase their talent.

Garage bands, poetry, young comedians, dancers, singers all had their time on stage for Cascade of Talent.

Of course one of the best parts of the show was the Emcee which helped keep the show moving, and provided their own stage for talent as well.

Do you think high school kids need a variety show again? Maybe we create one for the adults in town instead! Let us know on our App Chat.

See Montana's Most-Played Pop Song From the Year You Graduated High School

We used Mediabase, a music industry website that tracks real time playlists of over 1,800 radio stations to figure out which pop songs played on Montana radio the most from 2001 to 2023! (No, you're not old. Mediabase just didn't have data from prior to 2001.)

We looked at data from local stations, past and present, that played Top 40, Rhythmic Top 40, Hot Adult Contemporary or Adult Contemporary formats to determine our list.
