Great Falls Responds To Montana Verizon Outage And It’s Hilarious
The last day of September was a struggle for me. It has been a long time that I last had to go without a cell phone. And while I am totally comfortable with taking some time away from my phone and going somewhere without service for a weekend, when it is unplanned...a lack of phone can be extremely frustrating.
September 30th, Montana Verizon customers experienced an outage that lasted around 7 hours. While phones are back up now, the time without the proper use of my phone had me stressed.
We use our phones on a consistent basis every single day. While I was able to use Wi-Fi, knowing that I couldn't make or receive any phone calls was frustrating. I am a mom of four and not knowing if their school was trying to reach me had me absolutely bonkers.
Unfortunately without a phone there is no way for my kids school to get a hold of me without sending an email but that used to be the case for everyone. Without cell phones schools had to reach out via home or work phones to get a hold of parents or wait until kids were picked up.
Nowadays if our kid has a phone too, we have constant communication. It makes me feel better as a parent to a teenager knowing that he can get in touch with me if anything were to happen but we don't have a back up. I know my kids don't even know my phone number let alone my work phone number.
While this had me stressed, Great Falls is not without a funny bone when it comes to situations like these.
