Energize Your Thanksgiving With Some Fun Twists This Year
Thanksgiving Traditions You Make Yourself
Thanksgiving is a holiday filled with tradition. Watch the parade, cook all day, eat all afternoon and go shopping on Friday. Sometimes we want to switch things up and get out of our Thanksgiving Rut.
I am a co-parent and that means sometimes we have holidays with our whole family and sometimes we don't. Sometimes the normal traditions are great when you are all together but when some of the family is missing it can be fun to create different traditions so those of you there can find your own ways to celebrate. I decided to put together a list of things that you can do this year to make Thanksgiving unique to you and your family.
Have A Minute It Win It Competition
Minute to win it is a new fun family tradition played at all times of the year. Find some fun activities that only take a minute and set a timer! Let everyone complete in these little challenges and find a fun prize for the winner or winners. You can find some fun ideas HERE.
Take Turns Telling Jokes
My family-especially the kids-love telling jokes. We sometimes will go around the room for hours just telling jokes back and forth and giggling! There are tons of family friendly jokes you can share with your kiddos HERE.
Pie/Dessert Swap
If you know you are getting together with a large group of people plan something ahead of time to have everyone excited to show up and see what they get! Everyone can make a unique pie or dessert and switch them out with someone else's! This can be a fun family tradition to make the dessert together with the kids.
Watch A Movie!
If you are like my family-where sometimes you don't have every holiday together you can find a movie tradition for those of you who will be there. Sometimes for Thanksgiving it will just be me my husband and our oldest so we decided to spend the day watching movies with a theme. Spend your Thanksgiving watching a Lord of the Rings Marathon or Harry Potter! Or just binge Christmas episodes of your favorite tv show.
Hopefully these can give you some inspiration on ways to find your own holiday traditions. Each holiday is really just what you put into it. I am grateful to be able to spend holidays with my family. Happy Holidays to you and your families.
