October has always been known for Breast Cancer Awareness. With Pink ribbons and shirts and we all know that its Breast Cancer Awareness month. But what do we do to commemorate this month?

If you have someone in your life who has been affected by breast cancer you know that sometimes the pink everything can feel a bit superficial. There are events yes but what should we be doing in the month of October to really commemorate breast cancer awareness?

  • 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer in their lifetime.
  • In 2024, an estimated 297,790 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S.
  • Though less common, men can also be diagnosed with breast cancer, with an estimated 2,650 new cases in 2024.

Talk To Your Doctor In Montana

Not only should we be doing the research for ourselves but for our family members as well. You do not have to be a women to get breast cancer and Montana rates of diagnosis is not going down.

Talk to your doctor about signs, symptoms and what to look for. Do self exams. TALK ABOUT IT WITH EVERYONE!

Not only is there information available on a national scale but Montana has a lot of information available.

Best advice if you are curious about any information that may be available about breast cancer or what things to look for you can reach out to Benefis Slettin Cancer Institute or have your doctor refer you to look further into any concerns you may have. A place to start is by looking into Genetic testing and counseling to see if there are any indicators that might be a factor for you.
