Surprise! The Internet Is Ruining Rumors In More Way Than One
Fast Information Is Not Always Right Information
In todays world of instant information there is a change that is taking place when it comes to rumors. Rumors can either go one way or another but the fact of the matter is rumors have changed from the way they used to be.
Great Falls has many Facebook pages that provide information but can also be a source of misinformation just as easily. With the constant update of information there is little chance for rumors to spread without facts to back them up.

Facts Before Fiction
Recently I saw a post discussing if Denny's in Great Falls was closing and it was quickly shut down with facts and a great article from The Electric discussing the fact that Denny's recently announced the closure of multiple restaurants before the end of 2024. Jenn Rowell reached out to the restaurant and found not only are they NOT closing but they are hiring too!
Rumors like this can easily get away from the original poster but luckily this one was an easy solution of the right information being released in a timely fashion and now we know Denny's is safe and sound.

Rumors Can Spread Quickly Online
There was another situation recently where someone posted stating that Tony Roma's was hiring and this sparked the rumor that they would be opening soon in Great Falls. I was able to reach out to the kitchen manager and get additional information including when they would be opening in the Electric City and we were able to be one of the first people to confirm the opening of Tony Roma's-more information here
The other route that rumors can go unfortunately is when they spread like wildfire with no factual basis behind it. This can happen all the time in social media and it really is easy for a rumor to get away from the original poster when gullible people take satire as seriousness. I saw a post recently talking about lemons not being real and it honestly almost got me for a minute.
Rumors that are true are quickly confirmed and rumors that are false can either spread like wildfire or be squashed with facts. Do yourself a favor and get the facts before believing everything on the internet is true.
