CostCo Fish Product Recalled For Listeria Contamination
What a way to start the week. There's a new food recall announced by way of the FDA.
What food is being recalled this time?
The new recall is for Kirkland Signature Brand Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke, due to listeria contamination. According to the distributor who initiated the recall, Annasea Foods Group, the fish isn't the source of the listeria, it's the green onions that are in with the fish. Annasea initiated the recall after whoever supplies them with the green onions reported a test for listeria came back positive.
The affected food was sold at CostCo stores in over thirty states, including Montana.
What do we need to be on the lookout for?
The food is in a clear plastic clamshell with the Kirkland Signature brand label. Specifically, check for a packing date of September 18, 2025 and a Sell By date of September 22nd. There is an example photo on the FDA webpage for the recall linked above.
If you purchased the food, do not eat it. You are advised to throw it out. Contact the CostCo you purchased it from for a refund.
What if I already ate it?
So far, no illnesses have been reported to the FDA in connection to the recall. But if you bought and ate one of these already, you may experience fever, headache, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. And that's just for healthy people. There may be additional complications if consumed by someone with a medical condition like pregnancy or a weakened immune system.
