For many of us, there's nothing like a road trip.  You and your family or friends in a car, truck, or SUV traveling on the open road checking out all that a place has to offer. Some of my best memories are of road-tripping with my buddies back in the day.

Montana is a popular place to road trip, with thousands of miles of roads, highways, and interstates, there's a lot to see and do here in Big Sky Country.

Of course, you don't have to be a visitor to road trip in The Treasure State, as many locals travel across Montana checking different spots to see and explore. From hole-in-the-wall diners to weird roadside attractions, to old ghost towns, you will find all of that and more here in Montana, but that's not the only thing you'll find.

Now, I realize that for some of you, this might be hard to believe, however, according to the report there are three different determining factors that go into grading a state on their road quality.

  • Best States Overall
  • Infrastructure
  • Transportation

Montana ranks 25th for Best States Overall, 18th in Infrastructure, and 11th in Transportation. Some of the other states in our region making the Top 20 include North Dakota, Idaho, South Dakota, Oregon, and Wyoming.

Many will argue that while roads might be fine in the spring and summer here in Montana, many are a mess when it comes to the winter months.  From ice and snow to potholes, more than a few Montanans would argue with such a high ranking.
