How Can You Become A Private Investigator?
In Montana, there are several steps to making your PI dreams come true. From Private Investigator EDU, the Montana Board of Private Security Officers and Investigators requires that you:
- Have a high school diploma
- Are 21 or older
- Citizen or permanent resident of the USA
- Have no felonies, no moral turpitude convictions, no illegal use or possession of a dangerous weapon
- No dishonorable discharge from the US military
- No addiction or dependence to alcohol or drugs
- Must pass background and finger print check
- Must have 3 years education or 3 years experience in the field to apply for license
- $250 PI application fee ($150 for PI apprentice)
- $20 exam fee/take exam
- Proof of insurance
- Must provide birth certificate, proof of residency, proof of diploma, proof of education/experience, proof of any firearms certificates
- References from 3 people not blood related
