Police say Smallboy had been staying at the apartment a few weeks prior to Monday's stabbing.  One witness says Smallboy entered the apartment through an unlocked door.  When the residents of the apartment returned there was a confrontation and the unidentified victim was stabbed in the chest.  The victim is in serious condition but is expected to survive.

Background on Smallboy

Smallboy has been in trouble with the law before.  The Box Elder resident was found guilty of aggravated assault with a weapon and  was sentenced in a Great Falls Federal Courthouse to 39 months in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised release.  The incident occured up on the Blackfeet Reservation back in 2017.  He also has three violations of probation on his criminal history.  He was sent back to prison in October of last year for four months for violating conditions of his release.  Federal court documents say he failed to report for substance abuse treatment and admitted that he was using both meth and alcohol which violates conditions of his release.

Smallboy is now sitting in the Cascade County Jail and bond for the Box Elder native is set at $50,000.
