FDA Recalls Taylor Farms Salad Kits Over Allergens
Another day, another food recall.
This time, it's Taylor Farms recalling one on their salad kits due to allergens that weren't declared on the packaging, more specifically because a mix-up at a packaging center means that the wrong dressing was included in the kit.
The affected product is the Taylor Farms Honey Balsamic Salad Kit. Because of the mix-up, instead of the Honey Balsamic dressing that should have been included, the kits instead contain Asian Sesame Ginger dressing, which has sesame (as you can imagine from the name) and soy.
Both sesame and soy can cause allergic reactions in people, hence the voluntary recall.
To see if you have one of the affected kits, check the product code and Best If Used By information in the upper right corner of the package. You're looking for a product code that starts with "TFRS" and a date of September 4th or earlier.
Even if you aren't allergic to sesame or soy, it's still recommended that you don't eat the salad. As usual for a food recall, throw it out or return it for a refund.
So far, there haven't been any medical issues reported in connection with this recall, and as always, it will hopefully stay that way.
